Before joining VA, she was a Lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Nursing and was Project Manager for a federally funded online mentoring program for high school students interested in the nursing profession.  Her VA career began in 2007 as a Nurse Educator at the National Center for Patient Safety, where she traveled nationally educating VA staff on improving patient safety through communication and teamwork.  In 2009, she transferred to VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System where she was the Advanced Clinic Access Coordinator and then Nurse Manager in Primary Care, before accepting the position of Associate Chief Nurse of Ambulatory Care in 2018.    

Ms. Keel received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Michigan.  As the daughter of a Navy Veteran and wife of a Marine Corps Veteran, she has a deep connection with the VA mission of serving those who served.
