Dr. Correa comes to AVAHCS from Sierra Nevada VA Health Care System where he served as Chief of Staff. He is board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and is a Certified Medical Doctor. In Nevada he served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine. Dr. Correa started his science career as a research microbiologist and worked for the U.S. environmental protection Agency and the Department of Defense as an environmental scientist before going back to medical school.

He has a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Puerto Rico and graduated from the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed his graduate medical education at Florida Hospital in Orlando. Dr. Correa's current research interest is in caregiver burden in dementia. Dr. Correa began his VA career at the Roseburg Oregon VA health Care System. He also served at the New Mexico VA health Care System in Albuquerque. Dr. Correa has held positions including Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatric and Extended Care and has been involved in national process improvement projects involving patient flow.
