Dr. Callahan is a leader in both cardiac anesthesiology and clinical leadership at local and regional levels. She has held key leadership positions in the Veterans Health Administration to include Deputy Chief of Staff at VA Kansas City Healthcare System.  She previously served as the Chief of Surgery at VA Black Hills in Fort Mead, South Dakota, for nearly three years. Prior to her VA career, Dr. Callahan worked as a Cardiac Anesthesiologist and Director of Anesthesia Services in North Colorado for Banner Health, a position she held for 10 years. She is board certified in anesthesiology and is specialized in cardiac anesthesiology.

Dr. Callahan graduated from The University of Kansas Medical School and trained in Anesthesia at the University of Florida with her Cardiac Fellowship at the University of Colorado. Dr. Callahan is a proud Navy Veteran, serving five years as the Senior Medical Officer at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, Texas.
