Ms. Ackert was appointed Associate Director of Resources and Operations on February 17, 2019.
Ms. Ackert received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing with emphasis in psychology from
Grandview College and her Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Des Moines
University. She is a graduate of the VHA Executive Career Field (ECF) Leadership Development
Program and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She began her
VA career as an ICU staff nurse at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System. While at VA Central
Iowa she also held positions of increasing responsibility including Quality Management Specialist,
Compliance Officer, Public Affairs Officer, Administrative Officer for the Chief of Staff, and
Administrative Officer to the Medical Center Director. In addition to being the Associate Director at
the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System since September 14, 2008, she has served multiple details as
Acting Director to include time spent at VA Central Iowa Health Care System.
