Before coming to Jesse Brown, Mr. Orenstein served as the Interim Associate Director for Operations, and Chief of Facilities and Engineering Service for the VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS). Before joining the VAMHCS, Mr. Orenstein served as the Chief of Engineering for West Texas VA Health Care System and Acquisitions Program Manager (a.k.a. Super COR) for the VA North Texas Health Care System. Before joining the VA, Mr. Orenstein spent 2 years in private industry as a Senior Program Manager with a large Architectural and Engineering Services firm, where he led strategy, capture planning, proposal development, and task order management for the firm’s federal pursuits in the Central Region of the U.S. Mr. Orenstein is a U.S. Army (retired) Combat Veteran, having served 21.5 years active duty military service as a Commissioned Officer. Throughout his distinguished military career, Orenstein served in a variety of progressively challenging leadership positions at all organizational levels (tactical, operational, and strategic), to include two combat tours (Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom).
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, Mr. Orenstein is responsible for several administrative operations services of the health care system, including:, Emergency Management, Biomedical and Facilities Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Human Resources, Fiscal, Acquisitions, Safety and Occupational Health, Facility Master Planning and Interior Design, OIT and Information Systems Security, Decision Support Systems, Vehicular Fleet, Veterans Transportation and Beneficiary Travel, VERA and Privacy Programs
Mr. Orenstein holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University, a master’s in Industrial Engineering and a master’s in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a master’s in Public Administration from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He holds licenses as a Registered Professional Engineer and a Certified Facility Manager.
