Dr. Barry received her BSN from the University of New Hampshire, MHA from Simmons College, Boston and DNP from Georgetown University. She is ANCC board certified as a Nurse Executive-Advanced, and is a Johnson and Johnson/Wharton School of Business Nurse Executive Fellow. Dr. Barry held multiple nursing leadership positions in tertiary and community teaching hospitals in Boston and executive leadership positions within Inova Health System in Northern Virginia. She also has experience as an administrative and nurse surveyor for The Joint Commission. Dr. Barry joined the VA in 2010 and was appointed the Chief Nursing Officer in 2011 at the Washington D.C. VAMC and joined the Office of Nursing Service as the National Program Director for Workforce and Leadership in 2016. She has been serving as Acting Deputy Executive Director for ONS for the past year.
