VAMC system description

The mission of the department of neurology is to provide the highest quality, patient-centered neurologic care to our veterans.  We offer both inpatient and outpatient services and a full array of subspecialty care to our veterans for acute stroke, epilepsy, seizures, neurovascular disorders, neuropathic pain, headache, movement disorders, nervous system tumors, nervous system infections, peripheral nerve disorders, neurological autoimmune disorders (such as multiple sclerosis and myasthenia gravis) and muscular disorders.  We are a member of the VA Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders (SCI/D) program and a regional side for the VA Multiple Sclerosis Centers of Excellence (MSCoE)- East. 

We provide diagnostic services that include electroencephalogram and evoked potential studies.  We provide therapeutic procedures such as botulism toxin injection for movement disorders.  More invasive injection procedures are provided by other groups.

We can provide subspecialist second opinions in the areas of neuropathic pain, epilepsy, movement disorders, and neuromuscular disorders.
