He is responsible for all community-based outpatient clinics and several administrative services that support quality patient-centered care.

Mr. Schmidt began his VA career at the South Texas VA Health Care System and has held several positions within the Business Office, Patient Safety, Logistics and Human Resources throughout three separate health care systems. He has served in various leadership roles throughout the Veterans Health Administration and has a record of accomplishment in improving and expanding services.

Mr. Schmidt was a medical specialist in the U.S. Army for 20 years where he was deployed to various locations including Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, Bosnia Peace Keeping Mission, and Kosovo.
