The Associate Director oversees management efforts for administrative and facility decisions including: budget formulation and execution, staffing,  facility planning, patient care services, and physical security.

A native of Erie, PA, Eric Shaner received a B.S. in Business Management at Penn State Behrend in 2002 after graduating from General McLane High School.

Eric began his VA career at the Erie VAMC in 2009 as a housekeeper for about 2 years. After which he worked various civilian roles for the Department of Defense.

He returned to the Erie VAMC in 2015. He has held roles in Patient Centered Management Module (PCMM), Supervisor of Community Care, Systems Redesign Coordinator, and most recently as the Chief, Business Operations.

Eric spent just over 20 years in the Army Reserve out of Meadville, PA. He deployed to Iraq for a year in 2003, and again in 2005. He retired as a Platoon Sergeant from the Army in December 2019.

Eric lives in McKean, PA and enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, and time spent with his 10-year-old son, Gage.
