Ms. Young is a native of Danville, Pennsylvania and is a United States Army Veteran. She received her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Northwestern State University and her Master Degree in Hospital Administration from Central Michigan University.

She also holds Nurse Executive Certification (NE-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Ms. Young joined the Veterans Administration in June 2007 and is a graduate of the VISN 16 Leadership Development Program.

Over the years, she has held a variety of positions in nursing as a clinician, consultant, educator, and leader. As the Associate Director for Patient Care, Ms. Young is directly responsible for the delivery of all nursing care delivered at Fayetteville NC Coastal Health Care System. This includes two outpatient Healthcare Centers, multiple Community Based Outpatients Centers and an outpatient Dialysis Center. In addition, she is responsible for the Sterilization, Disinfecting and Processing department and the facility Telehealth Services.

Prior to her appointment as Associate Director, Patient Care Services, Ms. Young served as Interim Associate Director, Operations from November 2014 to May 2015 and Interim Associate Director, Patient Care Services from June 2015 to April 2016.
