In this position, Mr. Mortimer oversees administrative operations in support of healthcare delivery to nearly 30,000 Veterans across 24 counties in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Mortimer led the establishment and operations of the Charlotte VA Health Care Center in Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Mortimer served as a Program Analyst in the Office of the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Policy and Planning from 2013 to 2015, and as Executive Assistant to the Chief Medical Officer of the VA Heartland Network (VISN 15) in Kansas City, Mo., from 2009 to 2013. Mr. Mortimer joined the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2007 as an Administrative Fellow at the St. Louis VA Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Mortimer earned a Master’s Degrees in Health Administration and Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and a Military Arts and Sciences from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Ohio Northern University. Mr. Mortimer is a 2009 graduate of the VISN 15 LEAD Program and a 2017 graduate of the VHA Health Care Leadership Development Program (HCLDP).
Mr. Mortimer is board-certified in Healthcare Management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
