In this role, she oversees a complex healthcare system with an operating budget of over $650M. With over 3500 employees and highly developed programs in primary care, mental health, specialty care, research and social services, Ms. Ruzick ensures high quality healthcare for 63,000 Veterans in central and southern Indiana at 13 sites of care.
Ms. Ruzick has nearly 40 years of healthcare experience across a broad spectrum of leadership assignments. She previously served as the Associate Director at Indianapolis for three years overseeing administrative operations and served in the same role in Columbus, OH at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center. She was detailed to Cincinnati VAMC in 2015 also as the Associate Director. Before transitioning into these operational assignments, she served as a Health Systems Specialist in the VISN 10 Network Office in various assignments across the region and nationally. Ms. Ruzick joined the VA in 2004 as a Nurse Manager at Hines VA in Chicago. Prior to joining the VA, Ms. Ruzick managed a private surgical practice in Chicago and worked as a Registered Nurse in several management and front-line assignments in critical care and emergency management across the Chicagoland area.
Ms. Ruzick holds Bachelor degrees from Xavier University, OH and Lewis University and an MBA from Lewis University in Illinois. She is a 2010 graduate of the Executive Career Field Development Program, a Certified Mentor and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
