Christine Kleckner is currently serving as the Acting Medical Center Director at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI. The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center was established in 1950. It is is a primary and secondary level care facility with 17 medical/surgical beds. Its Community Living Center has 40 beds. As Acting Director, Ms. Kleckner oversees all aspects of this level 3 medical center with an annual operating budget of more than $255 million. Our high quality health care to nearly 26,000 Veterans includes primary care, specialty care, inpatient care and extended support services. We also have seven Community Outpatient Clinics in Gladstone, Ironwood, Hancock, Marquette, Menominee, Manistique, and Sault Ste Marie, MI and in Rhinelander, WI.
Ms. Kleckner currently serves as the Associate Medical Center Director of the Madison VA Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. She has served in the Veterans Health Administration for over 30 years, beginning her VA career as a Registered Dietitian at Madison VA in 1991, prior to serving in leadership roles such as Chief of Nutrition and Food Service and the Assistant Director at VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System from 2002-2013. She returned to Madison VA in 2013 as the Assistant Director and was appointed Associate Director in 2016. She also served as Acting Director at Madison VA from June 2015 to October 2015, Acting Director at Illiana VA Health Care System in Danville, Illinois, from February 2018 to June 2018, and Acting Director at Jesse Brown VA in Chicago from January 2020 to March 2020.
Ms. Kleckner earned her master’s degree in Business Administration from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, and a bachelor’s degree in Community Medical Dietetics from Viterbo College in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She is a graduate of the 2012 VHA Health Care Leadership Development Program and the 2020 Excellence in Government Fellowship Program, a nationally-recognized “Core Training Facilitator” for the VHA Coaching/Mentoring Training Program, and a VHA Improvement Advisor in Systems Redesign. She is also the recipient of the “Distinguished Leadership Award” from the Federal Executive Board for the Greater Kansas City area.
