John K. Wilson, MD was named the Chief of Staff at the Lexington VA Health Care System March 23, 2022.  Dr. Wilson previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff at Lexington VAHCS since April 2017.  Dr. Wilson first joined Lexington VAHCS in July 2011 as a Hospitalist and has also served as Acting Chief of Primary Care from September 2015 through March 2017.   

Dr. Wilson is a U.S. Army Veteran with 12 years of active-duty experience, having received his commission through the University of Kentucky Army R.O.T.C. program in 1992.  His service includes deployments to Haiti as a U.N. Peacekeeper and as a Battalion Medical Officer in Iraq, Operation Iraqi freedom and Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom. 

Dr. Wilson holds a B.A. in Biology from Transylvania University and received his Medical Degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2000.  He completed his Internal Medicine residency training in 2003 at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, GA.

Dr. Wilson resides in Lexington, KY with his wife Dr. Jennifer Wilson, a local Pediatrician and their two sons, Keenan and Trevor.
