Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022

A new law called the PACT Act just expanded VA health care and benefits for millions of toxic exposed Veterans and their survivors – including many Vietnam era, Gulf War era, and Post-9/11 Veterans. As a result of the PACT Act, many Veterans who hadn’t previously enrolled in VA care can do so now – including Vietnam Veterans, Post-9/11 Veterans, and Gulf War-era Veterans Survivors

Veterans can also apply today for disability benefits for all of the conditions outlined in the PACT Act, including many cancers and illnesses – all of which are outlined at www.VA.gov/PACT . Veterans who currently receive compensation for a service-connected condition will not have their previously awarded claims re-adjudicated simply because they file for new benefits under the PACT Act.

If you’re a surviving family member of a Veteran, you may be eligible for benefits and VA care as a result of the PACT Act.

On Wednesday, Dec. 14, VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, in partnership with the Veterans Benefits Administration’s Regional Office in Lincoln, will host a two-hour PACT Act Awareness Town Hall in the Ambulatory Care Center in Omaha from 4-6 p.m.

All members of our VA team are invited to participate in the open house to learn more about the PACT Act, speak to various representatives, and learn how to apply for these new benefits and schedule Toxic Exposure screening appointments. We will also be offering flu shots (Enrolled Veterans) and COVID vaccinations (Veterans and Veteran family members) during the Open House.

Veterans and Veteran family members/survivors who may be eligible for these expanded benefits are also encouraged to attend the PACT Act Awareness Open House.
