In his capacity as Medical Center Director, Dr. Jackson oversees a two hospital/three outpatient clinic operation with 2,450 employees that serve 45,000 Veterans annually in a two state, 36-county area with a budget of approximately $340 million. He became the Medical Center Director of Charlie Norwood in April 2018 and has served as the Deputy Network Director for the VA Southeast Network (VISN 7) since April 2013.

Dr. Jackson started with the VA in 2010. Prior to his assignment in Atlanta, Dr. Jackson held assignments as the Assistant Director and Chief of Social Work Services at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. He also served as Interim Director for the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System from August 2014 through August 2015 and the Atlanta VA Medical Center, May 2016 through August 2016.

A Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served in a variety of positions to include Chief, Behavioral Medicine and Research for David Grant Medical Center's Family Medicine Residency Program at Travis Air Force Base, California; Chief, Behavioral Health, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan; and Chief, Social Work Services, Dover AFB, Delaware.

Dr. Jackson completed his bachelor's degree from Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, and earned a master's in social work from the University of Hawaii, Manoa. He earned a doctorate in organizational leadership and behavior with a specialization in government organizations from the University of Maryland ES, Princess Ann.

His areas of specialization are on maximizing human capabilities within various social and organizational systems to promote the flourishing of skills and well-being in the workplace. He is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives.
