Dr. DeGennaro has helped make our community a better place in which to live, a safer place to grow and prosper. A gifted surgeon who possesses impeccable credentials and in an era of ever changing medical guidelines and procedures maintains a keen understanding of and a strong devotion to his profession. A native of New Jersey, Dr. DeGennaro has been involved in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale community since 1987. He served on the Board of Directors of Leadership Broward Foundation, as Vice-Chair and Chairman of Youth Leadership Broward, and as a founding member of the Creative Arts Unit of the Boys and Girls Club. He has given his time to Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army Homeless Clinic.
Dr. DeGennaro is among the most respected surgeons in the community. He has been an integral part of the medical leadership at Holy Cross Hospital serving as Medical Staff President and on its Board of Trustees and has been President of the Broward County Medical Association and Chairman of its Board of Trustees.
Currently Dr. DeGennaro is Chairman of the Council on Education and Science of the Florida Medical Association as serves on its Board of Governors and as President Elect. He is a Voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Miami School Of Medicine and serves our Veterans as Assistant Chief of Surgical Services at the VA Medical Center in Miami.
He is an active volunteer and on the Board of Directors of Project Medishare for Haiti, traveling to Haiti on multiple occasions delivering medical and surgical care to the people of the impoverished rural central plateau and in Port Au Prince.
His activities have earned him the FMA's Harold F. Stasser Good Samaritan Award, the Humanitarian Award of the Caducean Society of Fort Lauderdale and the University of Miami Department of Surgery Humanitarian Award.
