Prior to his appointment, Mr. Staton served as the medical center’s Assistant Director since September 2018. He joined the Washington DC VA Medical Center executive team in November 2017 as the Acting Assistant Director. Prior to coming to D.C., he worked at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston, Texas, where he served as the Chief of Police, acting Associate Director, acting Chief, Environmental Management Services and Facility Planner.

Mr. Staton is a retired U.S. Army Veteran with 26 years of distinguished service. He is a Florida native, earning his BA in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University in Florida and his MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Beyond his academic accomplishments, Mr. Staton is a graduate of the Leadership Veterans Affairs (LVA), a Mentor (fellow level) and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
