Her duties include oversight of Environmental Management, Nutrition & Food, Occupational Safety & Emergency Management, Police, Privacy and Records, Prosthetics & Sensory Aids, and Canteen. Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Harkey has served as Deputy Chief, Financial Management Services and Compliance and Business Integrity Officer.

Mrs. Harkey began her VA career in 2006 at VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System as a Research Coordinator, then served as a Health System Specialist in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. After transferring to VA Long Beach in 2011, Mrs. Harkey continued her VA career in the Financial Management Service where she served as a Management Analyst for Special Purpose funding (2011-2012), Budget Analyst for Medical Services funding (2012-2013) and finally, as the Deputy Chief (2013-2017). Mrs. Harkey serves as the Compliance and Business Integrity Officer under the Office of the Director and holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science (California State University, Long Beach) and Master of Science in Biomechanics (California State University, Fullerton).
