Ms. Parks is a graduate of the University of Iowa (BA, Nutrition and Dietetics) and the University of Kansas (Master’s in Public Health). Susan has 39 years of VA experience, starting with her dietetic internship at Hines VA Medical Center.

In her early career at EKHCS, Susan advanced from a Clinical Dietitian to a Clinical Nutrition Specialist in Nutrition Support and then became Chief, Nutrition and Food Service (Leavenworth campus) in 2003, managing both clinical and food service staff. In 2008, Susan accepted the EKHCS HBPC Director position and led multiple expansions of this multi-disciplinary team. In 2018, Susan returned to NFS, this time as Service Line Manager, leading NFS staff across both campuses.

Susan is a Past President of the Kansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She most recently served as a Change Champion for the national NFS Modernization initiative, working with NFS Chiefs in VISN 16 to fully implement Modernization at their facilities
