VAMC system description
  • All Veterans are welcome at VA, and NF/SG VHS has LGBT Veteran Care Coordinators (LGBT VCCs) and a Transgender Coordinator to provide services and assistance to Veterans who identify as LGBT and related identities.
  • The LGBT VCCS serve as a point-person, source of information, Veteran advocate, and problem-solver for LGBT Veteran-related health care issues.
  • The Transgender Coordinator provides clinical care, case management and advocacy for transgender veterans through the system. Upon referral from the Transgender Coordinator, trained psychologists within NF/SG complete the psychological readiness assessment required to initiate feminizing or masculinizing hormone therapy.  Services for transgender veterans include mental health, hormone therapy, pre and post-surgical care, and medically necessary Prosthetic items.

A staff Member should refer to the Transgender Coordinator if a veteran is seeking transgender services in the VA.
