The mission of the Dermatology Section, Medicine Service at the Oklahoma City VAHCS and applicable *Community Bases Outpatient Clinics is to provide expert medical and surgical treatment for disorders of the skin, hair and nails. Our Dermatology Clinic treats skin diseases from acne to skin cancer. Our providers treat the following diseases and disorders of the skin:

  • Adult acne
  • Rosacea
  • Seborrheic dermatitis
  • Eczema/Atopic dermatitis
  • Psoriasis
  • Cysts of the skin
  • Folliculitis
  • Scalp and Hair loss disorders
  • Nail disorders
  • Melasma
  • Genital and common warts
  • Infectious skin disorders: bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and viral
  • Inflammatory skin disorders
  • Blistering skin disorders
  • Autoimmune skin disorders: ie: lupus, vitiligo
  • Urticaria (hives) not involving the throat
  • Keloid scars
  • Moles and other irritating benign growths
  • Precancerous Actinic Keratoses
  • Basal Cell Carcinoma below 2 cm
  • Squamous Cell Carcinoma below 2 cm
  • Melanoma: diagnosis and surgery of thin lesions

 

Our dermatologists here at the Oklahoma City VAHCS treat patients who have complex dermatology problems or conditions requiring specialized treatment. We can perform the following specialty services and treatments for disorders of the skin:

  • Phototherapy: ultraviolet light therapy for skin disorders
  • Botulinum toxin for axillary hyperhidrosis
  • Biologic psoriasis therapies
  • Patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis
  • Fungal testing
  • MOHS micrographic surgery for skin cancer
  • Teledermatology

*Not all services are available at all locations and are evaluated on a case by case basis.
