Prior to joining VA Palo Alto health care, Mr. DeWitt served as the Medical Center Director, John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, from October 2020 to November 2021. Additionally, he has served in various executive roles throughout VA including Deputy Director, VA Portland Health Care System, from June 2019 to October 2020; Associate Medical Center Director, Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, from April 2017 to June 2019; and Assistant Medical Center Director, Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, April 2015 to April 2017. He has also served in numerous acting executive roles throughout VA.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team he is responsible for administrative operations of the health care system. As such, Mr. DeWitt has oversight for a variety of services including South Bay Operations, East Bay Operations, the Office of Facility Planning and Development, Engineering, and Fiscal Services.

Mr. DeWitt began his VA career as a health aid in Environmental Management Service in 2004 at North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System in Gainesville, Florida, and has served in various roles throughout Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 8, 10, 12, 15, and 20.

Mr. DeWitt is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social and Criminal Justice, and Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. Mr. DeWitt is a graduate of the 2014 Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12 Leadership Development Program, a fellow-level mentor in the national mentor certification program, and a coach for the VA Health Care Leadership Development Program.
