Dr. Beales had served as the Interim Chief of Staff of the Richmond VAMC from December 2010 to January 2013. Prior to this role, Dr. Beales was appointed as the Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics & Extended Care (G&EC), in 2006 and continued to serve Veterans when she was appointed as Deputy Medical Center Chief of Staff, in October, 2009. 

As Chief of Staff, Dr. Beales is responsible for the direct supervision of four Associate Chiefs of Staff, five service lines, and 19 clinical services, providing support for a highly affiliated level one tertiary care medical center.

Dr. Beales received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Richmond in 1983. In 1987, she completed a doctoral degree in Immunology followed by her Medical Doctor degree in 1996, both from the Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2002, Dr. Beales also completed a Master’s Degree in Health Administration.
