Starman grew up on a farm on the outskirts of a tiny town in Elgin, Nebraska. She received her PharmD degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and then moved to Boise, Idaho, where she completed both her PGY1 pharmacy practice and PGY2 ambulatory care residencies at the Boise VA. She worked in the private sector for a year in Portland, Oregon before moving to Salt Lake City for her current position as a PACT Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center.

Outside of work she loves running, hiking, reading, and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers from afar.
