James “Jim” Zeigler is the Deputy Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Southern Nevada Healthcare System. In this role, he serves as the facility’s chief operating officer, overseeing business administration, fiscal, biomedical engineering, prosthetics, strategic planning, and facilities management.

Mr. Zeigler has more than 20 years in healthcare administration, which includes 10 years in Veterans Health Administration leadership roles. Prior to joining VASNHS in March 2021, he served in VISN 10 as the associate director of the Chillicothe (Ohio) VA Medical Center.

Mr. Zeigler has also held acting assistant and associate director roles in VISN 12 at Iron Mountain and VISN 8 Bay Pines VA Healthcare Systems; and served as a physical medicine, and rehabilitation service chief. He is a graduate of the VISN 12 Leadership Development Program as well as the VA Healthcare Leadership Development Program. He has a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology and a master’s degree in communication disorders – both from Northern Michigan University.

Prior to joining the VA, Mr. Zeigler was an assistant professor and operated his own private speech pathology practice. He is also a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served 11 years on active duty. Mr. Zeigler is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, American Legion and is a VHA Certified Fellow Mentor.
