She joined VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (VA SORCC) in 2012, and Portland VA Health Care System in 2001. Dr. Thurston received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2012 from Rush University, Chicago Illinois. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role, with a 30 year nursing career which includes: medical, surgical, emergency, critical care, critical care educator, infection prevention, simulation and Associate Chief Nurse roles.
