COVID-19 vaccine clinic

We offer the the Pfizer COVID vaccine and the newly reformulated Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 Omicron BA.4/BA.5 bivalent booster vaccines. When you visit for your second dose or booster shots, you must bring your CDC vaccination card. 

All Veterans, regardless of characterization of service or VA healthcare enrollment, their spouses, and their caregivers may receive the COVID vaccine at VA Bedford Healthcare System (see COVID Vaccine Eligibility below).

Free rides to COVID vaccine appointments

Veterans enrolled in VA Bedford Healthcare System are now eligible to receive free rides from VA’s Rideshare program to get to their scheduled COVID-19 vaccine or booster appointments, or for scheduled walk-in vaccination clinics. Ask about the Rideshare program when you book your appointment.

COVID-19 vaccine eligibility

We offer COVID vaccines at no cost to all Veterans, their spouses, their caregivers, and recipients of Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA) benefits, including adolescents ages 12 to 17. 

Spouses are those who are in a marriage, same-sex, or common-law marriage with a Veteran, or are a widow or widower of a Veteran. Caregivers are a family member or friend who provides care to a Veteran or helps a Veteran with personal needs like feeding, bathing, or dressing or tasks like shopping or transportation. Adolescents ages 12 to 17 must receive CHAMPVA benefits. 

If you don't receive care at VA, we encourage you to pre-register online at least one hour before you go, to save time when you arrive. While at VA, you must wear a face mask and practice social distancing. For more about vaccinations at VA, visit www.va.gov/covidvaccine.

Note: Your employer, pharmacy, or local public health officials may offer you a COVID-19 vaccine. We encourage you to take the first opportunity you have to get a vaccine at the most convenient location for you.

COVID-19 vaccine BA.4/BA.5 bivalent booster eligibility

Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as their bivalent booster dose. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.

New bivalent booster update

You can now get the bivalent booster at least two months after you complete the primary series or after any booster or additional dose you have received if these descriptions are true for you:

  • You’re at least 12 years old (Pfizer) or 18 years old (Moderna), and
  • You completed the primary vaccination with  Janssen (J&J) or the Moderna or Pfizer series for your primary vaccine series.

You may choose either the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for your Omicron BA.4/BA.5 bivalent booster.

If you got vaccinated outside VA, please use MyHeatheVet to notify your primary care provider or give them a call to have it documented in your records. You'll need the information off your CDC vaccination card.

How to get your COVID-19 vaccine records online

Find out how to get a copy of your VA COVID-19 vaccine records through the MyHeatheVet website or on your mobile device. You can also use your Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) vaccination card—or a photo of the card—as proof of vaccination.

COVID testing

We currently offer drive-up COVID testing to Veterans, no appointment required.  We are not able to offer testing to spouses, caregivers, nor children. Questions? Call 781-687-4000.

At home test kits

Order four free at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests at COVID.gov/tests, or by calling 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489). Order tests now so you have them when you need them. Learn more about COVID-19 testing at VA.
