About Us

The VA Portland Transplant Program was founded in 1987. It is home to the first liver transplant in the Northwest and VA system. The kidney and living kidney transplant program was introduced in 2001, and remains the only VA center in the Western United States to specialize in kidney transplants. The program’s patient and graft survival statistics consistently exceed expected national outcomes. Our approach is tailored to include you, as an equal partner, in the decision-making process in achieving successful outcomes.
