Other VA education benefits
Learn about a range of VA education benefits you may be eligible to receive. These include programs that may help you get added GI Bill benefits. They also include alternative programs if you’re a Veteran or a member of the National Guard or Reserve and you’re not eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
VRRAP offered education and training to Veterans who were unemployed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This program stopped accepting new enrollments after December 10, 2022. If you’re already enrolled in VRRAP, you’ll continue to get your payments.
Programs for added GI Bill benefits
Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship
The Edith Nourse Rogers Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship allows eligible Veterans and dependents using the Post-9/11 GI Bill or Fry Scholarship to get added benefits. If you’re enrolled in an undergraduate STEM degree program or if you have a STEM degree and are working toward a teaching certification, you may be eligible.

The Yellow Ribbon Program can help you pay for higher out-of-state, private school, or graduate school tuition that the Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn’t cover. If you get Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits and your school participates in this program, you may be eligible.

The Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD)
MGIB-AD (also called Chapter 30) can help you pay for education and training programs. If you’ve served at least 2 years on active duty, you may be eligible.

The Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)
MGIB-SR (also called Chapter 1606) offers up to 36 months of education and training benefits. If you’re a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, you may be eligible.

This program allows you to choose an education benefit as an alternative to the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB). If you performed a period of national service, you may be eligible.

The post-Vietnam Era Veterans’ Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
VEAP (also called Chapter 32) is a $2-to-$1 government-match program for educational assistance. If you entered service for the first time between January 1, 1977, and June 30, 1985, and put money into a VEAP account, you may be eligible.
