Psychology Training

We offer a Clinical Psychology Internship, Clinical Psychology Residency, and Clinical Neuropsychology Specialty Residency. These programs are based on a scientist-practitioner model of training and are each separately accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

Pharmacy residency programs

The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program has been ASHP-accredited since 1986. Four residency positions are available on an annual basis. Over 25 qualified preceptors with prescribing privileges provide teaching and mentoring to our pharmacy residents in a variety of training areas. A resident completing our program will be a highly skilled practitioner able to provide direct patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The practitioner will be competent in patient-centered pharmaceutical care for acute care and ambulatory patient populations, which includes being knowledgeable in pharmacy operational services. The resident receiving a certificate will be prepared to accept any patient care pharmacy position, especially within the Veterans Affairs Health Care System

Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Practitioner Residency Program

Thank you for your interest in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Residency Program in Albuquerque, NM. The mission of this program is to provide novice nurse practitioners with exceptional clinical training, didactics and mentorship to enhance clinical competence, increase confidence to practice independently, and become well-prepared to provide high quality mental health services for Veterans.

Post Baccalaureate Nurse Residency

The mission of this program is to provide novice registered nurses with exceptional clinical training, didactics and mentorship to enhance clinical competence, increase confidence to practice independently, and become well-prepared to provide high quality care to Veterans.

Physician Assistant Post-Graduate Residency in Mental Health (Psychiatry)

The New Mexico VA Health Care is seeking two individuals for a 1-year paid Physician Assistant post-graduate residency in Psychiatry. Training will occur in both inpatient and outpatient settings and is tailored to allow graduates to sit for the Psychiatry CAQ. Upon graduation graduates will be eligible for direct appointment to full time positions within the VA. The program includes a wide variety of clinical and didactic experiences in Psychiatry. Residents meet regularly with faculty and the program strives to develop both a good knowledge base and strong clinical skills. Residents are trained in both supportive psychotherapy and motivational interviewing.
