Apply for a job at the VA New Mexico Healthcare System

When you’re ready to apply, just follow the “How to Apply” and “Required Documents” instructions in each job announcement. They’re your primary guide for applying for our openings. Except for a few health care jobs, most positions require online applications. So, it’s important to fully complete the online application process to receive your email confirmation. If you need help or have questions, please call or email the person listed in the “Agency Contact Information” section near the bottom of the announcement.

ABQ VA WOC Onboarding Process

Dear Trainee:

Welcome to the New Mexico VA Health Care System. We are pleased to provide you with an experiential rotation that will develop your knowledge and skills as a trainee. To provide you with this opportunity, the VA requires several forms, personal background check and training.
Please follow the instructions below:

6-12 Weeks before the first day         

Required Items: Paperwork

Instructions: Complete paperwork listed below                   

Documents:  OF-306 (See above)  VHA 10-2850D (see above)    HPT Testing (see  below)

** It is strongly recommended that you keep a copy of all completed forms for your records


4-6 Weeks before the first day

Required Items:
1) Background Check
2) Fingerprinting
3) TMS Online Training -Mandatory Training for Trainees (MTT)
4) Photo for PIV Card


1) Contact HR at (505) 265-1711, ext. 2203
-Bring one photo ID and another form of ID.
For example:
-Drivers license
-Passport
-Social Security Card
-Student ID

Pick up VA Appointment Letter

2) Complete on-line training
-click on the hyperlink to the TMS Online Training website: https://auth-hcm03.ns2cloud.com/secureauth35
-Complete Mandatory Training for Trainees using instructions on the right
-Email Certificate to Miach.Geuss@va.gov

3) Complete PIV Form (see below)and submit to your PIV sponsor. You will receive and email to call the PIV office. They are in building 1, on the first floor.

The New Mexico VA Healthcare System only has one entrance currently due to COVID. You must enter through San Pedro and each person is screened at that entrance. You can either show the screener your badge or be asked the screening questions.

There are 2 places you can park, and they are highlighted on the map with stars.

San Pedro Parking Lot- It is located on the east side of the main entrance.

Parking Lot G- Staff Overflow Parking, which is located next to the dog park and south of the 377th Medical Group parking lot.
