We understand the benefits found in including family members in treatment and are honored to be able to support your readjustment.

We have counselors who can provide services such as:

• Individual counseling for couples, spouses, and significant others
• Couples counseling

We have a licensed marriage and family therapist who can provide counseling for couples, spouses, children, and significant others for issues related to the Veteran’s readjustment needs. We also provide community referrals for additional support if needed.

We also provide education for family members and loved ones, highlighting common challenges within the Veteran community, and how they can be supportive of their Veteran or service member’s readjustment to civilian life. 

We use therapy models such as these for couples and families:

• Family Systems
• Gottman Method

In addition, counselors may provide education to family members regarding the Veteran or service member’s military-related problems or post-military readjustment.  

Here at the Virginia Beach Vet Center, we offer

• Couples counseling and support
• Spouse and Significant Other groups

Our services are available to family members when their participation would support the growth and goals of the Veteran or active-duty service member. If you consider them family, so do we.

We offer individual and group therapy, such as our Wives Support PTSD group, offered Wednesdays at noon. This group is for women spouses of Veterans and service members.
