As required by the MISSION Act of 2018, VA conducted market assessment studies of every VA market across the country designed to understand the makeup of our Veterans by health care needs, age, race, gender, the era they served, and where they live. These transfers will reduce travel times to the Sacramento VA Medical Center for Veterans based in Calaveras, San Joaquin, Tuolumne, and Stanislaus counties.

You do not need to take any action as a result of these transfers. Your care team at the clinic will not change. We understand some Veterans may wish to continue to receive their care at VA Palo Alto health care. We honor that right and will continue to welcome you. Veteran referrals for care at VA Palo Alto health care will be coordinated by the care teams. No matter which site a Veteran chooses to go to or who manages that site, they will receive world-class health care.

We are committed to ensuring the transfers are as seamless as possible for our Veterans. These clinics will remain open and are not closing. Construction of the new Stockton VA Clinic will continue.
