Dining, retail and other services

Food and Drink 

  • Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) Patriot Cafe' serves hot breakfast and lunch items, fresh salads, sandwiches and more. VCS Canteen Services are non-profit and all proceeds benefit the Veterans.
    • Open Monday - Friday, excluding Holidays; closed weekends.
    • Grill and hot food line is open 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Grab-and-go cold and hot cases are available 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • VCS Patriot Brew (Starbucks) in the lobby of our main building features Starbucks-brand coffee and drink selections,  along with a variety of snack items provided by VCS Patriot Cafe'. 
    • Open 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, excluding Holidays; closed weekends. 

Banking

  • An ATM is located in the hallway across from the Retail Store.

Retail

  • VCS Patriot Store offers electronics, military items, home health care products, personal care, clothing, gift items and men's and women's accessories. 
    • Open 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, excluding Holidays; closed weekends.

Wheelchair availability: Wheelchairs are available upon arrival for patients who need them to access the building.
 

Transportation services and schedules

Van services for Veterans

DAV vans

Hours: Individual van schedules vary

We work with Disabled American Veterans and county Veterans Affairs directors to provide transportation for Veterans and authorized caregivers to get to scheduled medical appointments.

Non-DAV van services

Many localities in the region provide other van services to Veterans.

Beneficiary travel

Beneficiary travel benefits include round-trip transportation from your home to the medical center, mileage reimbursement, or special mode transport.

Traveling Veteran Program

The Traveling Veteran Program assists Veterans enrolled in the VA health care system in coordinating care at another facility while on extended travel.

The Traveling Veteran RN Coordinator will work with your Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) prior to your travel to ensure that you receive consistent, uninterrupted care. This assistance includes helping Veterans who may need to be seen at another facility temporarily while traveling, or for Veterans who need help registering at a new location because they are moving.

Visitor hours and information

Hours

Lobby entrance:  24 hours a day, 7 days a week

General visiting:  Visitation is temporarily limited to family members and designated caregivers of Veterans who are gravely ill or in hospice or palliative care.

Screening:  All visitors are being screened when they enter the lobby of the main building. Please be patient with our screeners and practice social distancing when waiting in line:

  • Masks are required.
  • Stay six feet from others.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes.
  • Clean your hands frequently – wash with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.

Behavioral health inpatient wards

Not permitted at this time.

Critical care

Visiting hours are individualized to meet the needs of the patient, family, and caregivers.

Post-anesthesia recovery

Generally, visitors are not permitted. The doctor or nurse may make an exception.

Visitor policies

Help keep COVID-19 out of our facility.

  • Do not visit if you are sick - If you have a cold, cough, runny nose, sore throat, muscle aches or fever, please do not come into the facility.
  • Wear a mask - Masks are required at this VA Health Facility
  • Clean your hands - Clean hands with sanitizer before entering and after leaving.
  • Visit one resident only - Do not visit multiple people in this visit.
  • One visitor per patient at a time.
  • No visitors under the age of 18.

Police

Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane has a Police Service.  Our officers provide 24-hour patrols of the facility and parking lots. For general police assistance, please dial (509) 434-7912.  Report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible.  

Because the VA Medical Center is Federal property, all persons and bags are subject to search.  In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted.
