Frequently used content block types

Rich text

This is an open-ended text field with limited formatting options. Use this content block type for most of your text. Learn more about the rich text content block

Embedded image

This will show a full-width image that you upload to the media library. You can also make the image clickable to open in a new tab.

Link to file or video

This lets you link to a downloadable file from the media library, or to a VA YouTube video.

For a file, you can upload the file from your computer when you create the content block. Learn more about linking to a file

For a VA YouTube video, you should add the video URL to the media library first, then you can use the content block to link to it. Learn more about linking to a VA YouTube video

Accordion group

An accordion is a header that can be clicked to expand and show text.

Additional information

This is text that, when clicked on, expands to show more text. Unlike an accordion, this doesn't have a header and isn't grouped.

Q&A section

This is a group of questions and answers, for example, if you have a Frequently Asked Questions list. The Question can be clicked to expand the Answer text.

Staff profile

This inserts information from an existing staff profile in Drupal CMS (you must create the staff profile first). This is helpful for adding staff profiles that don't have a stand-alone Leadership bio.

List of link teasers

This is a list of links. Add a the link text and the URL that it will link to. You can also add an optional short summary of the link. 

Less common content block types

Alert

This adds a short information or warning alert, which if formatted differently than the rest of the text. It has a heading, and the text can be either expandable or not.

You can create your own alert or choose from existing alerts.

Process list

This lets you add a numbered list. The list will be automatically formatted by the front-end system to call attention to the numbers.

Number callout

This is a question and answer block that draws attention to a number or time, like a deadline. The header should include the number or time to get Veterans' attention.

Table

This lets you add information in a table. This should only be used for comparing information or showing data, not for visual formatting. Follow VA style guidelines on tables

React widget

React widgets can be used to link to an existing online form. This is not common, and should only be used by advanced editors.
