About the Vet Center product

Vet Centers provide amazing benefits and services for our Veterans, active duty service members, and their families. Unfortunately our user-research found that these folks often didn't know about Vet Centers or confused them with VA Clinics. Veterans, active duty service members, and their families who have used Vet Center services have referred to Vet Centers as the "hidden jewel of VA."

We designed this product to create a unified, veteran-facing web presence for each Vet Center to stop these 'jewels' from being so hidden and help Veterans, active duty service members, and their families connect to the fantastic staff and services at these locations.

User stories

"As a Veteran, active duty service members, or family member I want to know all the locations that Vet Center services are provided so that I can make best use of this great resource."

"As a Veteran, active duty service members, or family member I want to know what to expect on my first visit to a Vet Center so that I have what I need to make use of this benefit easily and quickly."

Product focus

For the Vet Center product we focus on:

  • How a Veteran can find a Vet Center: Address, phone numbers, photos, and basic location information for Vet Centers, Outstations, and Community Access Points (CAPs)
  • How to prepare for a visit to a Vet Center: Parking, public transit, and appointment information as well as what types of documentation to bring on a first visit information
  • What services a Vet Center provides: Although Vet Centers provide many of the same services, as taken from the Vet Center National Service List, how each Vet Center provides that service-the unique flavor-is just as important to the Veteran, active duty service member, or family member as the service itself. It often helps to tell the story of how a Vet Center is different from the rest of VA.
  • How a Vet Center is different from a VA Medical Center or VA Clinic
