“As a Veteran, family member, or caregiver, I want to know what health services are available at a facility so that I can understand what kind of care I can receive there."

“As a Veteran, family member, or caregiver, I want to detailed information about health services are available at a facility so that I can take the next step in my care (e.g. make an appointment)."

Content intent

The Facility Health Service is the official Veteran-facing record of what services are available to Veterans, caregivers, and their families at a specific facility.

It's important that we ensure that we show only those services that Veterans can receive at any location. Not only is inaccurate information bad for your site visitors, this will be the official data source for services at your facility in other applications.

In the future, Veterans who use other applications such as the VA Facility Locator, VA.gov search, Mobile applications, chatbots and more will be getting phone numbers, hours, walk-in availability, and other information because of the content you maintain here!

Before you start

• You need to have a CMS account
• You need to have access to a VA Medical Center section
• You need to have a facility health service you wish to remove

How to remove a facility health service

1. Find the VAMC Facility Health Service you need to remove.

   • On your homepage after logging in, go to your Medical Center section under Sections and click on it.
   • From the content page, set Content type to VAMC Facility Health Service. 
   • Click Apply.
   • Click the Edit button next to the facility health service you want to edit.
2. Scroll down to the Editorial workflow.
3. Click the Save as menu and select Archive as the moderation state.
4. Enter a Revision log message.
5. Click Save.

The Facility Health Service will be removed from that facility on the next publish cycle. That Facility will also no longer be listed in that Service Accordion on the Health Service list page for your health care system.
