If you’re a Gold Star family member, we’re here for you, no matter how distant or recent your loss.

We respond to referrals from the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) to provide support to family members affected by the loss of a service member. Learn more about the mission of TAPS

We can offer counseling and other support, such as:

  • Bereavement counseling for families who have lost a loved one while they were serving on active duty
  • Contact information to the Veterans Benefits Administration regarding possible burial and survivor benefits

Toledo Vet Center - Grief and bereavement counseling

We have bereavement counseling and support available for:

  • Families of Veterans who were receiving Vet Center services at the time of the Veteran's death
  • Families of service members who died while serving on active duty

We can also connect you to the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) for assistance with burial and survivor services.

Bereavement counseling is assistance and support for people with emotional and psychological stress after the death of a loved one. Bereavement counseling includes a broad range of transition services, including outreach, counseling, and referral services to family members.

We offer bereavement counseling to family members of service members who died while serving on active duty and to family members of Veterans who were receiving services at the time of their death.
