The Veteran-centered purpose

“As a Veteran, family member, or caregiver, I need to know what VA facilities and services, other than my health care system facilities, are available in my area."

Before you start

You will need the Facility IDs of other VA locations. Don't include facilities in your health care system. They will be automatically added to your Locations page from a centralized database.

  1. Search for the facility using the Facility Locator tool.
  2. Enter a city or zip code in your system.
  3. Select a facility type (VA benefits, VA cemeteries or Vet Centers).
  4. Click Search.
  5. Under the results, click on the name of a facility. After that facility's page opens, note the Facility ID at the end of the URL (starts with vba_ or nca_ or vc_). Don't include any facility that is not publicly accessible (e.g., on a restricted military base).
  6. Repeat this search for the other types of VA facilities (include only VA benefits, VA cemeteries or Vet Centers).

How to do it

  1. On your homepage after logging in, find the section you want to edit under Sections and click on it.
  2. On the content search page, click Content Type and select VAMC System.
  3. Click Apply.
  4. Under the results, click Edit next to your system.
  5. On the edit form, scroll down to Our Locations and click to expand the panel.
  6. Click Add another item and enter or paste a Facility ID into the field. Don't add any facilities in your health care system here. Those will automatically be added to your Locations page from a centralized database.
