How to edit an event

Learn how to edit an event to be listed on a VA.gov Events page.
Find an existing event to edit
- On your homepage after logging in, find the section you want to edit under Sections and click on it.
- On the content search page, click the Content type filter and select Event.
- If you know part of the event title, add one or more words to the Title contains field.
- Click Apply.
- Find the title of your event. Click the title of the event to view it or click the Edit button to edit it.
Add a new event
- In the top menu after logging in, click Manage.
- Hover over Content, hover over Add content, then click Event.
- On the right Section Settings panel, click the Section dropdown menu and select the section that manages this event (e.g., Outreach Hub, VA Pittsburgh health care.) If you only have permission to edit one section, you don’t need to change anything here.
- Proceed to editing event details.
Edit event details
Set the event schedule
- Set a Start and End to your event.
- If your event repeats on a regular schedule, check Make recurring.
- You can set the event to repeat on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule.
- Under Until, select an end date for your event series. You can have events repeat up until a year into the future. After a year you'll need to make a new event or update the start and end date to refresh the series.
(optional) Cancel or reschedule an individual event in a recurring series
- If you need to cancel or reschedule an individual event in the series, you can do so after saving your event.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page, click Save and continue editing, then return to the date and time area.
- Click Edit event series.
- Find the event you want to change.
- Click Edit to reschedule to a different date and time.
- Click the arrow and select Cancel event to remove it from the event series.
List your event on a VA.gov events page
- For Where should the event be listed, click the dropdown menu and select the events page you want. It should match the section that manages the event.
Add an event image
- For Event Image, click Add media to upload an image for your event page, if applicable.
- Complete all required image fields.
- Images are displayed in aspect ratios set by the front-end tool, but you can select the focus area of your uploaded image for different aspect ratios.
Add registration info
- Complete the Registration information. Generally, events listed on VA.gov shouldn't have a cost. If you want to reinforce that the event is free, enter Free in the Cost field.
- Click the Location type dropdown menu and select from the options.
- If you selected VA Facility, click the Facility location dropdown menu and select the facility. Skip the Address fields.
- If you selected Non-VA facility, complete the Address fields.
- If you selected Online event, enter the Online event link. Then click the Country dropdown menu and select None.
Save your work
- For Editorial Workflow, click Save as and select a moderation state.
- Enter a brief Revision log message about the changes you made this time.
- Click Save.
